Welcome to Día de Muertos / Day of the Dead celebration at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum. Rooted in Mexican tradition, Día de Muertos is a festive time of remembrance in which families decorate the tombs of deceased relatives and install memorial ofrendas / altars where special offerings are laid out that would be appealing and comforting to the returning souls. Ofrendas–set up on a tabletop or on boxes of various sizes – include everything from candles, Pan de Muerto / sugar-coated bread to photographs, water glasses, musical instruments and other gifts. Día de Muertos celebration is held every year at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum on the first weekend of November.
