Public Tour Docents conduct museum tours for drop-in visitors of all ages and for scheduled group tours of all types. Docents present the story of the Rancho San Pedro, the Dominguez family, and the 1910 International Aviation Meet within the context of Southern California development. Tours are given the first Thursday and Friday of each month and every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm.
School Tour Docents conduct museum tours for classes from third grade to adult. School tours are interactive in nature and include a question and answer format and activities to engage students and promote learning. Tours are scheduled Tuesday through Friday from 9:30am to 11:30am.
Administrative volunteers provide clerical assistance for museum staff in a variety of ways in the museum. Volunteers assist with special event mailings, quarterly newsletters, phone assistance and special projects. Specific and ongoing training is provided by museum staff.
Special event volunteers work with museum staff in creating, managing and setting up small and large special events ranging from craft activities for children to large events for the public.
Curatorial/Conservation volunteers assist museum staff in research projects, conservation of the collections, and the inventory and cataloging of the collections. Specific and ongoing training in both collections care and conservation is provided by museum staff.
