The mission of the Friends of Rancho San Pedro is to preserve and increase community awareness of early California history as it relates to the Dominguez family, homestead adobe and the Rancho San Pedro, the first Spanish land grant in California. This is accomplished through educational programs and the operation of the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum.

Struggling to make history come alive???

Join us for our back to school (open house) night here at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum. We will have two dates that teachers and faculty can come in and see what the museum has to offer.  The dates are:

  • Wednesday September 20th, 2017 from 4pm-5pm
  • Wednesday October 18th, 2017 from 4pm-5pm


The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum presents: Weaving the Past Journey of Discovery a feature documentary film by Walter Dominguez

Joins us for a unique speaker series event as we present Mr. Walter Dominguez film and how he embarks on a journey across California, Texas and Mexico fulfilling his grandfathers dying wish. The public is invited to this FREE screening and after the film a Q&A session will take place.

The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum presents: 1st annual Dia de los Muertos

Joins us as the museum host a day honoring the rich tradition and history of Dia de los Muertos. The museum will have fine Mexican cuisine and arts and crafts for purchase. This event is for all ages, don’t miss out!

  • When: Saturday November 4th, 2017
  • Start: 10am-4pm

Day de los Muertos 2017

Battle of Dominguez Hill 2017

Join us as we celebrate the 171st anniversary of the Battle of Dominguez Hill also known as the Battle of the Old Woman’s Gun.

In this two-day event you will be able to experience the reenactment of the battle as well as the many aspects of life during the 1800’s.

Saturday, October 7th 2017 from 10AM to 5PM
Sunday, October 8th 2017 from 10AM to 4PM

Come and experience the following:

–California and U.S Navy encampment re-creation
–Cannon Firing by the Washington Artillery
–Visit a church, parlor, vendors and Sunday services
–Music and dance
–Children activities: corn husk doll making, tortilla making, adobe brick making and gold panning and much more!
–Take a tour of the Dominguez Homestead.
