School Tours
Our school tours are fun, engaging, one-of-a-kind experiences for schoolchildren of all ages. Our unique environment invites students to fully experience the history of early California. Museum tours are designed to meet the needs of classroom teachers by addressing local, state, and national history and social studies standards and frameworks. Each tour is age-appropriate and relevant to classroom curriculum.
Teachers prepare their students for a visit to the Museum with classroom lessons and background information provided in our “Rancho San Pedro Teacher Manual.” When students arrive at the Rancho, they are asked to step back in time, to the year 1784, when Juan Jose Dominguez was given the first land grant in California.
Our volunteer docents conduct tours on Tuesday through Friday mornings all year round. All school tours start at 9:30am. We also offer a covered picnic area where students can enjoy their lunches after the tour.
To book a tour, please contact the office at (310) 603-0088 extension 1.
After-School Tours
The museum also offers tours for after-school programs. The tours follow the same format as the school tours, however they are given at 3pm Tuesday through Friday during September through June and are offered all day during the summer months.
