Compton Creek is a riparian area of interest which is replenished by natural subterranean springs and was crucial for providing clean water for the Rancho families and for livestock. Wells and water pipes were used to transmit fresh water had not been introduced yet and the creek was the main source of water. Manuel Dominguez initiated the first water projects in the area where many artesian wells were bored under his direction subsequently communities were allowed to flourish.
