The Rancho is hosting its annual event to celebrate intergenerational families. Grandparent’s day will be September 7, 2013. There will be fun and educational activities for children and their grandparents. Also, there will be ongoing tours of the museum and food will be served throughout the day.
Activities include sewing workshops, adobe brick making, candle making, a coloring contest, and airplane making and flying contest.
Activities will be from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm.
The sewing machine classes are unique in that you will be able to use antique hand crank sewing machines. There are 12 spots per class and they will be taught on the hour. You have the opportunity to make a water bottle bag and/or a pocket to keep your precious items in. The water bottle bag takes 30 minutes and the pocket takes 1 hour to complete
The adobe brick making and candle making will run throughout the day.
We will also be holding two contests for the children.
- There is a coloring book contest to see who can make the best coloring book page for our next coloring book.
- There will be a flying contest where children can build a small balsa plane and see who the best pilot is.
- Prizes will be awarded to the winners
Each family at the end of the day will receive a gift bag with goodies to remember the day. The cost of the event is $5 per person, which includes a catered lunch and all activities.
