Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum

September 2013

Hispanic Heritage Day is September 28th

The Rancho’s first-ever Hispanic Heritage Day will feature an array of entertainment, food, craft demonstrations, information booths, activities and games that celebrate Hispanic and Latin American history and culture, and their important connection to Southern California.

Step into history as the Western Educators, Shooters and Troopers perform a living timeline, where you can “meet” important people in early California history, including Don Manuel Dominguez, early Spanish explorers and monks, businessmen and United States Marines.

Get moving, while learning the techniques of salsa, folklorico and flamenco dancing, or compete in a friendly soccer match for the Hispanic Heritage Day Trophy.

Watch ongoing blacksmith demonstrations and participate in craft activities, such as Puerto Rican mask making, Mexican paper cutting and the Ecuadorian art of making miniature animals, flowers and people.

Stroll down museum and vendor row to learn more about the Hispanic influence on Southern California or to purchase a keepsake to remember this special day.  Food and drinks will also be available for purchase courtesy of Tacos El Pacifico.

The suggested donation for attending Hispanic Heritage Day is $10 for adults and $5 for children (children under 3 are free).
