Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Join the Rancho festivities on October 27th at 1pm for our pumpkin decorating contest.  There will so much to do.  You can:

  •  Decorate your own pumpkin and enter one of the contests for best design and more
  • Wear your costume and be part of the costume parade
  • Enter the pumpkin seed spitting contest
  • Join the pumpkin pie eating contest

This is going to be a fun afternoon for all ages.  The fun starts at 1pm and goes to 3pm.  We hope to see you there.

Father Serra visits in October and November

Join us on October 25th and November 7th to hear Father Serra speak about his travels and experiences.  This is a fun, educational and interactive program designed for all ages.  The program also fits well with California’s 4th grade curriculum.  Both programs start at 9:30am and are outside on the Rancho.  Come experience living history at its best!

Flamenco Friday this coming Friday at 5pm

Flamenco Friday at Historic Dominguez Rancho

Friday October 19th,   5pm to 7pm

Experience Flamenco, the profound musical expression from Andalusia, Espana!  All new show and a little more Flamenco history.  If you missed the first one, then you must come to this one.  If you came to the first one, please come again.

Sample tapas and wine to the traditional flamenco guitar of Gabriel Osuna midst the beauty of the Spanish Rancho San Pedro.  Learn more about the origins and development of this powerful musical genre and its family of elements: cante, palmas, guitarra, baile and compas, with Dance Historian, Janice Guerrero.  Then, be treated to an intimate performance by 1st Class Los Angeles dancers, Victoria Romero and Emilio Dominguez .

10am to 3:30pm: Continuous Living History Camps, vendors, crafts and kids’ activities, tours of the

historic Adobe (upper grounds).  Visit our Gift Shop!

3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.   Afternoon Tea & Dance at the Carriage House on the upper grounds

Enjoy Old Californian Hospitality with our afternoon tea.  Ginger Alberti, Dance Caller; and the band Whirled Peas will delight and entertain you as you enjoy the tea and dance on the Rancho. Light Refreshments served. Period costumes admired, but not required!

(The tea is free; however we would welcome a $5.00 donation or whatever you can give to help support the Museum)
