Apollo Lecture at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Join us on Saturday, November 6th to hear about the Apollo program.  Darwin Smith, an engineer on the Apollo 11 will talk on the Apollo program  and its legacy.  The talk is full of fascinating and vivid detail.  There will be an extensive Q&A session where you can ask for more details.  There will be light refreshments served afterwards and the talk is free.

The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is located at 3720 Stephen White Drive, San Pedro, 90731.

Battle of Dominguez Hill Talk-This Week!

Join us at Cal State University, Dominguez Hills this coming Thursday, the 28th at 6pm to hear Steve Clugston talk about the Battle of Dominguez Hill and the significance of the battle to California’s history.  This battle represents one of only two victories for the Californio side in the entire war.

Steve is a curator and reenactor whose emphasis is on the Californio period.

The talk is at 6pm in the Loker Student Union ball room, which is on the 2nd floor.  Parking is only $4.  We hope to see you there.

JPL, its History and its Legacy

Join us on October 16th to listen to Kim Gostelow talk about the history of JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory), which is the lead US center for robotic exploration of the solar system and conducts major programs in space-based Earth sciences. This talk will include not only the history, but a behind-the-scenes look at working at JPL and its current aerospace projects.  This event will be held at the Western Museum of Flight.

Join us at the Western Museum of Flight this Saturday, October 16 at 1pm to hear Kim Gostelow talk about the history of JPL and a behind-the-scenes look at working at JPL and its current aerospace projects, in particular the missions to Mars.

Battle Reenactment on October 9th

Join us on October 9th for our 2nd annual Battle of Dominguez Hill reeanctment. The Battle of Dominguez Hill took place on October 8th and 9th in 1846, during the U.S.-Mexican War. Witness the battle on the exact day it was fought. In between the battles there will be a costume fashion show and Fandango dancing.  For the schedule of events that day, please go to the event page and download the schedule.
