Early California Costume: 1826-1910

Join us to travel through time with DeAnn Lowell as she presents clothing for work and play in the early 1800s up to the fashion of the day during the 1910 Airmeet.  Her discussion includes the most popular fashion item sold at the end of 1909 and where fashion influcences came from.

Several of the actual dresses worn by the Dominguez daughters will also be on display in a never-before-seen exhibit of historic costume.

A little bit about DeAnn:

DeAnn’s mother agreed to teach her six-year-old daugther to sew.  At 14, the budding seamstress made a wedding gown, her first garment for a paying client.  With a degree in Liberal Arts, Lowell continues to cultivate her love of textiles by collecting, designing, creating, and instructing in the fashion arena.
