Theory and History of Flight

Join us for our first aviation inspired children’s activity, which will cover the theory of flight and the history of flight.

An informative sesion on aviation theory will cover how wings create lift, how ailerons, elevators, and rudders move aircraft in three dimensions; cockpit controls and the instruments needed by pilots to know that the airplane is operating properly.  Children will have a chance to sit in a cockpit mock-up where they can operate the controls and view typical light plane instruments.

The history component will encompass aircraft development in the United States from 1903 to the present jet technology, as well as the stories of pioneer aviators and astronauts including the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindberg, Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong, and more.

This event is appropriate for all ages.
